Strong Couples, Stable Children – Building Relationship Smarts
High school family and consumer science teachers in Macon and surrounding counties will use the Relationship Smarts Curriculum to increase students’ awareness and understanding of healthy vs. unhealthy relationships as well as increase their knowledge about abusive and neglectful situations and how to respond to them. The goal of this project is to reduce the risk of child abuse and neglect and the risk of maltreatment in adolescent dating relationships, and to improve the probability of adolescents forming healthy adult and parent-child relationships in the future. Each classroom instructor will be trained in the curriculum as well as in specific child abuse and neglect awareness and prevention modules.
