Tender Beginnings Home Visitation
Based on the Healthy Families America home visitation model, Tender Beginnings focuses on the health and well-being of children at-risk for abuse and neglect by providing intensive weekly home visitation services. Services are voluntary and are offered until the child is ready to enter school. The program is designed to help parents of newborns get their children off to a healthy start by promoting positive parent-child interactions, healthy child growth and development, nutrition, and enhanced family functioning. Family Support Plans, formulated using a strengths-based approach, is used as the basis for goal-setting and service delivery. Appropriate community referrals, tracking of immunizations, lead screenings and well-baby medical visits, and developmental screenings are also services provided through Tender Beginnings.
