Cubbies Who Care/Conscious Discipline
General Prevention Grant
Prevention Focus: Secondary – Parent Education and Support
The Southwest Early Childhood Center serves Title I Preschool Program and Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Program students and their families. Service area includes Cole and Callaway counties. Many of the families served are affected by poverty and nearly 80% of the ECSE students have one or more developmental delays. This project implements Conscious Discipline©, an evidenced-based parent education curriculum built on current brain research, child development information and developmentally appropriate parenting practices. The curriculum is designed to empower parents to consciously respond to, rather than unconsciously react to, everyday conflict.
Consicious Discipling for All
Counties Served: Cole, Callaway
Conscious Discipline® is an evidence-based, comprehensive, self-regulation program that integrates social- emotional learning and discipline (https://consciousdiscipline.com/methodology/research/). Built on a foundation of current brain research, child development information and developmentally appropriate practices, Conscious Discipline® is designed to make changes in lives of adults who then change the lives of children. JCPS will use training funds to make Conscious Discipline training available to childcare providers serving Cole and Callaway county families.
