With the goal of preventing child sexual abuse statewide, this project will expand the Darkness to Light: Stewards of Children training initiative. The evidenced-informed Stewards of Children curriculum focuses on improving the child-protective behaviors of adults that are responsible for children and is designed to increase knowledge, improve attitudes and change participants’ behavior over the long-term. The project will build upon current and past efforts by offering additional training, building an engaged network of trained facilitators and training school personnel beginning with districts in southwest Missouri.

Missouri Kids First will continue their work as the state lead on providing Stewards of Children child sexual abuse prevention training. In addition to providing training directly, Missouri Kids First also manages a network of Stewards facilitators. Stewards of Children (SOC) is a national training program designed to increase knowledge, improve attitudes and child-protective behavior (https://www.d2l.org/education/). SOC is a training for adults that teaches how to prevent, recognize and react responsibly to child sexual abuse.
