Internet safety including tips for parents to keep their children safe from cyber predators is the topic of this latest podcast from the Children’s Trust Fund (CTF). CTF Executive Director Kirk Schreiber is joined by Cherisse Thibaut, Missouri KidsFirst, and Lt. Joe Laramie, Glendale (MO) Police Department, who explore the ever changing world of online communication and discuss the Missouri Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force and their fight against online child exploitation.

Cherisse Thibaut holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Saint Louis University. Cherisse is currently working at Missouri KidsFirst, a statewide non-profit committing to ending child maltreatment, as a Prevention Specialist and Liaison for the Missouri Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC). ICAC serves criminal justice agencies and Missouri citizens by offering investigative, forensic and prevention training, and resources in an effort to fight technology- facilitated child exploitation.
Lt. Joe Laramie has been with the Glendale, (MO) Police Department for 31 years, with more than 28 years of experience in the area of child protection. He is certified as a Police Juvenile Specialist through the Missouri Police Juvenile Officers Association and taught D.A.R.E. for 15 years. Since 2003, Lt. Laramie has been the Program Director for the Missouri Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force and has served on the National ICAC Task Force Executive Committee, as Co-Chair of the National ICAC Operations Committee and ICAC liaison to the NetSmartz Workshop of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
He currently serves on the Advisory Board to the National Coalition to Prevent Child Sexual Exploitation and as an advisor to the Internet Keep Safe Coalition. He was a recipient of the 1999 Missouri American Legion Law and Order Award, the 2004 Missouri Bar Associaton Liberty Bell Award and a member of the state’s Cyber Harassment Task Force in 2007. Lt. Laramie holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Bellevue University, is a 2004 graduate of the FBI National Academy and presents nationally on the topic of Internet crimes against children and Internet safety.
