Childhood Exposure to Domestic Violence Tied to Later Increased Suicide Risk

Domestic ViolenceCanadian researchers found that about 17% of adults who were exposed to chronic parental domestic violence as children made suicide attempts, compared with about 2% of those who didn’t witness parental domestic violence. The findings in the journal Child: Care, Health and Development, based on data involving more than 22,500 Canadian adults, also showed that nearly 17% of those who were sexually abused and more than 12% of those who were physically abused during childhood had attempted suicide at least once.
